MIXED DEVELOPMENT_ CONVENTION CENTER, RETAIL CENTER, HOTEL AND SERVICED APARTMENT

The image is a paper cut related to my current project involved in Ipoh. This is the best experience so far to me in design development. The complexity of the building designed as combination of several separated function and building typology has exposed me to a very challenging and invaluable experience.

This project is a joint development project between public (Authority Council) and private company. Dealing with them also was such a comprehensive added knowledge and experience to me as an architect.

Talking about the building, the whole development will be built on 3.2 ac land in the heart of Ipoh City Center which will develop into a new landmark to the city. It comprise of an International Convention Center with capacity of 2500 pax. (own by Authority Council), retail mall, 18 storey hotel and 18 storey serviced apartment. An open public park will also be built at level 3 as compensation to acquisition of the whole land ( as for now used for public garden and park).

The existing public road abutting the land will be turned into a public street mall. The 3 storey retail shops are designed with open (natural ventilated) corridor and unified with public street mall on ground level.

For the façade design, we played around with fractal geometry concept to achieve an elegance and contemporary look. The concept of elevated garden also manipulated on façade.
